Swindlers

Swindlers

Project overview

A three-part documentary series produced for RTÉ and later released on Netflix, Swindlers explores the stories of three of Ireland’s most infamous con artists, each episode uncovering a different case of deception, manipulation and fraud.

Working with Phoebe and Charlie, we developed the title sequence and supporting visual language for the series. The concept draws on the structure of investigative processes, using themes of evidence, reconstruction and revelation to guide the sequence.

Fragments of information are gradually introduced and connected, reflecting the act of piecing together incomplete narratives and exposing the systems behind each story.

the scale of the cons at their centre.

Drawing from the visual language of
case files, archived documents and collected evidence, layers of imagery
and typography are assembled and reassembled throughout the sequence. Details are concealed, revealed and recontextualised, mirroring the shifting identities, fabricated histories and
carefully constructed lies at the
heart of each episode.

The sequence was designed to feel constructed rather than composed, with layers of imagery, typography and evidence, like materials assembled by hand. Details shift in and out of focus, echoing the careful process of uncovering the stories behind each deception.
