Swindlers

Swindlers

Project overview

A three-part documentary series produced for RTÉ and later released on Netflix, the series explores the stories of three of Ireland's most infamous con artists, each episode uncovering a different tale of deception, manipulation and fraud.

Working alongside Phoebe, Charlie we developed the title sequence and supporting visual language for the series. Inspired by the investigative nature of the documentary, the sequence draws on themes of evidence gathering, reconstruction and revelation. Fragments of information gradually emerge and connect, reflecting the process of piecing together each story and exposing the scale of the cons at their centre.

Drawing from the visual language of case files, archived documents and collected evidence, layers of imagery and typography are assembled and reassembled throughout the sequence. Details are concealed, revealed and recontextualised, mirroring the shifting identities, fabricated histories and carefully constructed lies at the heart of each episode.

The sequence was designed to feel constructed rather than composed, with layers of imagery, typography and evidence, like materials assembled by hand. Details shift in and out of focus, echoing the careful process of uncovering the stories behind each deception.
